The 1950-1990 Census Predictor for Stephen Alexander UNDERWOOD, Jr.

This right here is the reason I invented the Census Predictor. My mother, Corinne Jane (McCORMACK) UNDERWOOD, could not say with absolute certainty where they were living in 1950 when the census was taken in April. The most likely possibility is the Columbia, Boone Co., Missouri, home which they shared with landlady Mora Ashlock. Great memory of Mom’s, huh? I can’t even remember the names of the people at my condo office today!

Their son, Stephen Patrick “Pat” UNDERWOOD, would have been a newborn as he was
born in March 1950, and the official census date was April 1st, 1950. Since there were several possibilities for their newlywed home’s location, I created the Census Predictor so that future researchers would be sure to check each location for them.

Visiting, but not living there: The census’ official date was April 1st. The family was visiting Mom’s parents for her father’s birthday on April 2nd. They may have been enumerated on the census in South Dakota. Like I said in the “Of Census Predictors and Custom Facts” post of 31 Jan 2019—this family could be anywhere! Ergo, the Census Predictor.

Least likely possibility: Staying for a short time with Steve’s parents and his brothers Jim and Joe in an apartment in Midtown or Westport
